Sharon Núñez | Animal Equality's President and Spokesperson
What have you done exactly?
One of the last days of August, several Animal Equality activists rescued six baby pigs from an intensive farm. At the farm there were several female pigs in cages used as reproduction machines, there were alse several baby pigs that were in terrble pain. We took photographs and video footage of the farm, to show people what our consumption of animal products implies.
Do you have hope that this will help people to become vegan?
Yes, of course. These kind of rescues have been carried out for several years in other countries and the results have been very positive, both for the non-human animals rescued and the impact it`s had on people.
Javier Moreno | Activism Coordinator
What was entering the farm like?
Although I can't give many details about the rescue, the previos investigations we carried out made things quite simple. I was the second one to go in, Jose was already recording inside, and once inside the farm I found myself surrounded by screaming pigs. I will never forget what I saw. It took me a second to react and start taking photographs, you can see the photos in our website.

How did you feel during the rescue?
I was in charge of watching out the farm entrance and give a call trough the walkie-talkie if any car passed nearby. Although the rescue only lasted about 20 minutes, these were some of the longest 20 minutes of my life. I was very nervous to say the truth, but calmed down when we left with the pglets on our laps.
Would you do it again?
Yes, no doubt I would. Watching the piglets joyfully play is something that deserves taking risks.

How did you feel after the rescue?
It was a strange sensation, I felt happy to have saved six piglets, but I also felt sad and angry thinking of just how many stayed there. I just wish we could free them all.

What was the rescue like for you?
I was the first one to enter the farm, once inside I started taping everything I saw, as I knew that there wasn't much time, specially carrying out the rescue during day-light. Once inside, Iain and Javier went in. After several minutes taping the caged pigs and there babies I started taping the rescue of the first piglets. sadly that camera stopped taping because of a problem with the batteries.. good job we thought something like that might happen and we brought another camera wich we continued to use to tape the rest of the rescue. Javier climbed out of again to help Sharon with the piglets that were being rescued. We finally we took out the banners we had prepared and Iain taped me while I was holding them. Once they gave us the signal, we left quickly, and took the piglets to the car.
